A Flextight is one of the objects of desire which I will never own, but still, it is nice to dream! Film grain itself is a very important parameter in the final image and its effect.

Again, Imacons are very nice machines, but my claim is that they are generally overrated. It takes a lot more lines per mm from the scanner to resolve a certain amount of lines in a piece of film properly. Unless you kmacon sell me yours?

One of the tricks with the Flextights are the filmholder which really garanties a total flat negative without puting any glas surfaces between the film and the scanner lens. Sometimes in the middle of a scan, sometimes when standing idle, sometimes when preparing a scan. I've had scans made by a local lab with Nikon and done the same images with my Imacon The older Imacons are still very good but require umacon SCSI connection that your more modern computer will not have. I think this is part due to the better lens and part due the better film holders.

I transfer the scan to a modern PC and work on photoshop with two big screens and Digital printer and auxliary hard drives.
